While on bathroom break three male students were pulled out of the rest room for causing commotion and being very loud. When the teacher went into the restroom to find out what the problem was there was a male student crying and yelling stating that another male student came into his bathroom stall and kissed him. After hearing both sides of the story and pulling the male students aside and talking to them the students were allowed back in class. The very next week the issue was brought up again after the male student hadn't shown up for class. The paraprofessional stood in front of the class and got everyone's attention and discussed a very imporant issue and that was keeping your hands and feet to yourself and respecting everyone around you.Wednesday, November 2, 2011

"Waiting For Superman"
"Waiting for Superman" was a jaw-dropping experience for me. I never thought our education system was so messed up. And this might not be the most surprising statement but I am glad I live in Georgia. I feel as if I may have not gotten the best education, but I have one and my parents did not have to go through the lottery in order to get me and my seven siblings into school. The film’s most emotional moments revolve around five children whose futures depend on winning a lottery to a charter school. I was very shocked at the things the students have to go through; the parents were much stressed and very disappointed. Another thing that shocked me and made my heart drop was that there are teachers who only teach for the money and they don't love their job. I just hate the fact that we have teachers in the system like this; I can't imagine having this job and not loving what I do. I have wanted this ever since I stepped foot in my kindergarten class room, and I want it now even more than before. After walking into Fort Valley Middle School for the first time and seeing my students and seeing how some of them are so intrigued with learning it touched my heart and I could never imagine choosing a different career.

"I AM"
I am a Strong Black Woman
I am a Child of God
I am a Soldier
I am not defined by the clothes I wear or the people I associate with
I am Blessed beyond imagination
I am the fifth born of seven
I am a mime and praise dancer
I am my sisters keeper
I am the best cheesecake baker
I am a respectful young lady
I am a shopaholic
I am a poet
I am a lover of music and arts
I am a Child of God
I am a Soldier
I am not defined by the clothes I wear or the people I associate with
I am Blessed beyond imagination
I am the fifth born of seven
I am a mime and praise dancer
I am my sisters keeper
I am the best cheesecake baker
I am a respectful young lady
I am a shopaholic
I am a poet
I am a lover of music and arts
I am ME!

Stone Age Who?
My Vision as a Middle Grades Educator is so much greater than the ones who came before me. I sat down with my mother and had her to explain to me the way she remembers her classroom setup when she was in school and I must say she descried the stone age. They didn't have computers, posters, wall art or anything that made the classroom stick out. When I think of my classroom I see art all over the walls things that will have my students interested in learning. I see spread sheets, graphs, I see a white board, and instead of regualr computers I see Ipads, enough to share with my entire class. I think by having Ipads booksharings will be so much easier and they will help draw the students attention. I see my students sitting three or four to a circle table giving them a chance to get to know their fellow classmates instead of sitting in an individual desk. Yes the classroom setting does play a major role in the outcome of your class but I think its the way the teacher presents it that gives the student a greater understanding of the objects placed in the room.
